A nice ride we go on occasionally, especially after rainy days is a run out to Queen Mary Falls…

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the place, let me enlighten you…

South Brissy and Gold Coasters head to Beaudesert, 3 servos to choose from there, and then head off to Boonah… Once there, Flavours Cafe or Cafe 17 are brilliant pitstops, and a BP servo in case you need a top up as well…. Anyone coming from the Western Suburbs would travel down from Ipswich to Boonah…

Once at the top you will see Teviot Falls off to your right…Stop and take it in….beautiful.

Next head off towards Rathdowney for approx 14km and when you see the sign pointing right to Carneys Creek, whip off down that way for about 13km and keep your eyes peeled for a right turn sign to Queen Mary Falls / Killarney…..

Be aware that there is a  lot of unfenced roads along this section, cattle grids and a couple of points where you cross Teviot Brook, might be four inches of water over the concrete, but easy as to go through… Keep going through some spectacular scrub and head on up a reasonably steep incline that twists and turns….Once at the top you will see Teviot Falls off to your right…Stop and take it in….beautiful.

Keep on keeping on up onto what amounts to a plateau where it feels like you have entered into a lost world of amazing pastureland…… about 18 more kms and you will get to the Queen Mary Falls cafe and go for a walk.

Coming home the same way is good, as everything you saw on the way in is behind you, and the stuff you didn’t see is in front of you.. Or, head on down to Killarney and make your way to the Cunningham Highway and over the Gap…. Alternately, head from Killarney to Legume and along the Mt Lindesay Hwy to Woodenbong and north to Beaudesert from there…..
