I believe we can all help to improve our local road conditions by listing the improvements that we would like to see then passing the list onto the Main Roads Department.
- Car Driver awareness campaign. “Use side mirrors when changing lanes”.
- Make lane markings “Non Skid”.
- Fix pot holes on dangerous country roads.
- Oil on roads. Make Roadworthy certificates for cars & bikes compulsory.
- Road signs for black spot corners etc
- Remove loose gravel from roads.
- Fix very bad cambers on some roads with loose gravel at the edge.
Would be great to hear everyone’s thoughts on the above and perhaps add to the suggestions.

Some good points there Mr Swift…
Add to that visibilty issues such as overhanging trees near intersections.
Signage obscured by trees and even other signs.
The next thing may stir some emotions maybe, but, roadside shrines can be quite a distraction. I have no problem with a small plaque maybe being placed, but the quite elaborate collections in some places can be quite large. I have seen other riders whose sight has been drawn to them, and when they are in a bend as they so often are, then that can be hazardous.
i am not convinced that compulsory roadworthy’ are justified though. Maybe i could get some input from a N.S.W.er, but i would be doubtful of the long term benefits of such a thing. Some of THE most horribly unroadworthy cars i have ever seen come from NSW, and from some accounts, a lot of marginal cars getting around there are actually not even registered.
Because of the lawful requirement to have a RWC the chance of serious profit making is also there for providers.
Any ideas from anyone else ??
Ok, moralistic rant over…lol
Comment by Craig — Jun 10 @ 8:31 pmMake some traffic lights more sensitive, nothing worse then having to run a red light after sitting at it for 5 minutes waiting for it to go green, when it just refuses to go green. Probably not a problem on the larger bikes but for us small bikes its an issue on some lights, no matter where you sit on the sensor[even leaning the bike over].
