What a couple of weeks it’s been for MATES. With the official launch of the website to the media on the 16th June came a string of interviews, reports and subsequent attention from the public. To all those who have been involved in the launch and raising the awareness of MATES in the community we send you a big thank you.

If you missed the events around the launch, here’s a quick summary …

Firstly, the launch was held at Gold Coast Harley-Davidson in Southport and was covered by Channel 9 Gold Coast and NBN9 News.

A key part of the launch was publishing the stories of three people who tragically lost loved ones in motorcycle crashes. Their stories tell of their trauma and the hope that their loss can help to save the lives of other riders. (Read more and watch the videos)

Then came press coverage from the Gold Coast Bulletin and the Gold Coast Sun, and a radio interview with Sam.

The media attention has certainly raised the attention of the public and the motorcycling community, and MATES continues to work towards its purpose of educating riders and other road users on the many issues surrounding safe and enjoyable motorcycling and the unique dangers we face.

… a place to come to for “all things motorcycling”

With this website we want to offer visitors a place where they can learn about motorcycling and the sheer exhilaration we experience as riders. We hope to be able to offer information that can educate all road users in not just the safety aspects of riding, but the fun around it as well. In short, we want this website to be a place to come to for “all things motorcycling” - news, product information, and just plain good stories around what we do as motorcyclists. And in the process we hope that what we share can help to save lives.

We hope you come with us for the ride …

    Congratulations and well done MATES.

I am always encouraged that there are enough people out there who actually make things happen. It is easy to be an arm chair critic and fix all the problems with a few beers, blame a few groups including the government and then actually do nothing.

Keep up the great work - Contributing to saving lives is a worthy cause.
