  1. As readers might recall, a couple of mates and I (the Three Amigos) recently set out to conquer the big ride in the US, all 48 mainland states of America in just 10 days, called the 48/10 ride. Well, thanks to the gods of motorcycling we did it, due in no uncertain part to a hell of a lot of good luck, good weather (apart from one day of totally wet riding through New England and sheltering from a tornado in Iowa), avoiding the blue light peril and no breakdowns or accidents.

  2. The 6 Hour is back!

    The iconic race that helped to shape the career of many of Australia’s motorcycle racing greats is set to run one more time in November as a final farewell to Sydney’s Oran Park Raceway. The event will be the last ever motorcycle meeting to be run at the historic circuit.

  3. An article appeared in the Courier Mail and on News.com.au recently stating that the Queensland Government is set to implement a zero alcohol requirement for all motorcyclists. This is not the case.

  4. The debate over front number plates on motorcycles has been raging for what seems like eternity. But articles published in major reputable newspapers in the last week report that the plan has finally - and quietly - been put to bed.

    Both The Australian and The Herald Sun have reported that the plan to mount number plates on the front of motorcycles has been scrapped after a study conducted by VicRoads found that there was no satisfactory way of fixing registration plates to the front of a motorcycle.

  5. Queensland Transport has announced new road rules in Queensland effective from 12/10/2009.  Some of the new road rules relate to motorcycles and other road rules relate to all vehicles.

    New motorcycle rules relate to carrying animals on fuel tanks and carrying passengers in side cars.  Other new road rules relate to fog lights, seatbelts, parking, road markings, radar detectors, etc.

Of the 214 fatal crashes in Queensland in 2009, 245 people have so far lost their lives.  102 drivers and 51 passengers have died whilst 54 motorcyclists have died including 50 males, 1 female and 3 pillion riders.  Motorcycle fatalities are the same as at this time last year.  Other fatalities include 6 bicycle riders and 32 pedestrians.
