On Wednesday I had the pure pleasure of a day ride on the back of a Harley Davidson with Wildfire Tours. The destination was Toowoomba, however the route taken was the highlight and not what I was expecting.

Leaving the Gold Coast took us through Canungra, Beaudesert and Boonah heading towards Warwick. The sheer delight of these rides is that you never know where you may end up so the left turn at the Lake Moogerah sign (approx 150km from the Coast) was a surprise but brought absolute awe at the destination. Calm, glasslike lake, amazing scenery and such tranquility. A fantastic place for a Sunday ride and a picnic so go prepared. You’ll want to linger a while. (I’ll definitely be riding back there.) After a nature walk and a looksee at the dam we rode onto Warwick for a short stop. I just love the old buildings and the slow pace of life in the towns we passed through.

Heading towards Toowomba I couldn’t help thinking how very dry everything had been through the route we had taken.

After a coffee stop at Toowoomba we decided to head for a small town called Harrisville, via Laidley & Rosewood. We could see it on the map but getting there was another story and we still haven’t got there!! Continuing along the the Motorway heading for home was the biggest headache. We missed the only turnoff sign for the Gold Coast (roadwork barriers everywhere) and ended up where?? Don’t know that either. The signage or total lack of, was very frustrating. Many twists & turns eventually brought us back to Motorway where we were relieved to see the Logan Motorway exit and headed south for home.

We didn’t really get lost, we just had a great adventure!! The day was absolutely perfect and a lot of fun. If you want a change from riding yourself then being chauffeured on a Harley Davidson is the next best thing. I totally recommend it.
