About Me

After spending 12 years as a copper, I got tired of delivering death messages, attending autopsies and seeing young people die. There were plenty of good experiences as well, catching baddies, saving lives at crashes and getting involved with things like Adopt A Cop and Neighbourhood Watch but I wanted to make a real difference.........hence I joined Qld Transport in the Road Safety section. Now I work with a whole team of committed people who share the same passion in making a difference. Being a keen motorcyclist for many years, I knew that when the opportunity came to be involved with like minded people, we could make that difference. Local community and industry groups working with government reps can achieve so much by pooling ideas and handing over the control to a group like MATES Gold Coast. I like the phrase...........Road Safety Is Everyone's Responsibility. I also like the wheely bin phrase up in North Qld.........High Speed.........Low IQ Stay alive Mark (Curley) Kerle Manager Road Safety
