About Me

I got involved in MATES coz I got one hell of a shock seeing two of our club members in hospital after accidents that, whilst serious, luckily still sees them both in the saddle and enjoying all the good things about having the wind in your face. In one case a guy driving a ute in the very left hand lane on the main road north to Airlee Beach, decided he suddenly wanted to turn right. Two bikes in the lane to his right didn't have a chance - not pretty. In the second case a wild pig decided that it wanted to play chicken with a motorcycle - well the pig is dead but my mate didn't come out of it without a hell of a lot of pain and aguish.... So riding safely yet enjoying this wonderful sport we all participate in was the key driver to me joining MATES. I just want all my friends to get there in one piece.... so for me its think safety and ride safely - they're so finely intertwined. Gold Coast HOG member.

      Fatal Motorcycle Crash

      When Lane Spilitting Goes Wrong

      This is a story from Brazil.  The reaction from the driver is totally unjustified, however I would suggest the rider should not have kicked the car in the first place.
