Have you ever wondered why around 70% of crashes on the open road occur on right hand bends? Well, if you’re like me you probably hadn’t even thought about that statistic. But if you do, the answer becomes a little obvious. (more…)

I remember when Northbrook Parkway was opened and linked the back road from Wivenhoe Dam to Mt Glorious. Brand new road surface in pretty good condition with plenty of sweeping bends. A great days ride. BUT

May 25, 2007 - The number of motorcycle fatalities in Tennessee has doubled in the last 7 years. This Motorcycle safety video was developed the Tennessee Department of Safety, the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the Governor’s Highway Safety Office, Metro Nashville Police and motorcycle clubs across the state to encourage motorcycle riders to educate themselves before taking to the roads, and to remind drivers to respectfully share the roads with their two-wheeled counterparts. A Bungee Lock Up
It never ceases to amaze me how many riders continue to use bungee straps to hold gear on the back of their bikes. I have attended one motorcycle fatality where the bungee strap came off and got wrapped around the back wheel causing a lock up and loss of control. It is just not worth it. Buy a top box to store your gear in. Even tension straps can come undone, break, come loose and wrap around your rear wheel.
Imagine travelling at 100k’s an hour and your rear wheel locks up until you stop. Now if you’re lucky you just have to buy a new tyre. It’s just not worth it.
